Program Details (What HF 1175 Proposes)

Key elements districts should prepare for now:

  • Written CERP at Each School: Districts/charters establish a campus-level plan for sudden cardiac arrest response, including roles, communication, and post-event review.
  • Designated Response Team: Identify staff (e.g., administrators, nurses, coaches, trainers, security) who receive CPR/AED training and are responsible for response actions.
  • AED Access & Placement: Ensure AEDs are available and accessible within rapid response timeframes (often 1–3 minutes), with signage and maintenance/inspection logs.
  • Annual Practice Drill: Conduct a cardiac emergency simulation prior to each school year; document results and improvements.
  • EMS Coordination: Align the plan with local EMS and community partners; maintain AED registration where applicable.
  • Funding Support (Proposed): Appropriates $2,000,000 in FY2026 for CERP implementation costs (training, AED equipment/maintenance, materials).

Note: HF 1175 is pending. We help districts get “implementation-ready” so you can quickly comply once enacted.
